Really like them July 12, 2010 Lani V. Lockett (Tucson, AZ, US) Really comfortable. Many reviews said they were too long, which I didn't find, and that they tend to get those annoying fabric balls on them after a couple of washes. I've only washed them once and have not seen evidence of this. They are really comfortable and exactly what I wanted. Very happy with the purchase!
Love these pants March 30, 2009 Karen Abraham (Hoboken, NJ United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Overall, I love these pants. They are extremely comfortable, and the stretchy panel part is more supportive than most belly bands or other pants panels. I really like these because they are so comfortable. They're great for yoga, hanging out at home, running chores, etc. They also look decent enough that you can dress them up a little with a tunic shirt.
I am not a "pants with panel" person - I generally prefer low-rise pants with a belly band. However, these pants are the major exception for me. The panel is plenty large enough to accommodate almost any belly, but you can fold it in whatever configuration you prefer, as they advertise. I am currently 23 weeks and have definitely popped. I still have to fold the top of the panel down a few inches, so there is plenty of room to grow. Part of why I generally don't like other panel pants is that the panel tends to be very short - but that is not a problem with these at all.
As far as why I didn't give these 5 stars... (1) They are a bit on the expensive side for what they are. But especially if you get them toward the beginning of pregnancy, I think they're well worth it given their versatility. I figure I'll have no problem wearing them in the first weeks or months postpartum as well. (2) The seam on the back of the panel is not their best feature (I feel that they could be redesigned to minimize the seam - I hope they do), but it causes no discomfort for me. And as I'm not a fan of short maternity shirts anyway, it's not a major detraction for me.
I have not been able to deal with waistbands on my belly very well since the very beginning of my pregnancy, so I appreciate the coverage and support of these pants without waistband pressure points. I definitely do find them far more comfortable than simply slinging a pair of regular yoga pants lower, or wearing maternity yoga pants that have a waistband on the belly (having done both).
I would definitely recommend these pants for their comfort and versatility, despite the cost, especially if you're newly pregnant and thus will have many months' use out of them.
A splurge, but great April 8, 2009 J. Reid (Cincinnati, OH USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love these pants! I have to say they are pretty spendy though, and I probably wouldn't have spent the money if it wasn't for my birthday.
The material is a step up from cheap-o yoga pants and I love wearing the panel down as a skirt. They run true to size but very long in the leg.
I say they are worth it for a more classy fit and fabric if you have the money to spend. I like that I can still wear them at the office and not look out of place.
almost perfect February 10, 2009 Ms. G (Palo Alto, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i love these pants! they are so comfy, and really do look great. my hubby says they "show my legs off," which is nice. so many maternity styles are too baggy! also need to give doula-shop a double thumbs-up. fast shipping, coupons in the box (love that!) and a pack of skittles! i've already ordered from them again.
back to the pants.
the pros:
* you can wear them to work or to the gym
* versatile - i find 1 really like the "skirt" style
* good quality - i don't imagine these will fade or wear away easily
the cons:
* expensive!
* fit is not perfect. i normally wear a size 14 or 16; i got the size 3 because i don't like anything tight during my pregnancy. i had to bring the pants to be hemmed. also, if i wear them on a walk, they fall down... embarrasing! maybe i should have gotten a smaller size?
* lint and dog hair really like to stick to the fabric
overall, if these pants weren't so expensive, i would buy another pair. i love them!
Great pant, but pricey January 3, 2010 D. Charboneau 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, I went into buying these after reading the other reviews, so I knew what I was getting in to. Let me start by saying I LOVE THESE PANTS! They have flaws, but they are so comfortable! I wash them every night and wear them almost everyday. They look great and I get great compliments. I have not found a pair of pants that fits as well as these do at any cheaper stores. I've tried on several pairs of pants and this is my second pregnancy. Nothing fits as well as these do. Now, to address some of the flaws...
You need a lint brush, they will pick up lint.
If, like myself, your inner thighs rub at all, they will pill. I haven't yet figured out a way to fix this problem.
Due to the other reviews, I wash them on gentle and hang them to dry. I paid a lot for these pants, so I'm going to baby them!
If you are under 5ft 8, I would not buy them. I am 5ft 8 and have a smidge of length at the bottom still when I'm bare foot.
but on to the advantages...
Finally, a pair of maternity pants that shows off my legs! My belly is round and I'm sick of pants that are loose in the thighs making my legs look heavy.
They are long and I'm tall. I LOVE this. I flood in most of my pants, but not these.
They are so COZY!
The band on the stomach is snug (the whole pant is snug) so I can wear them after I deliver for postpartum tummy support.
Did I mention that I've worn and washed them everyday! They are just my favorite pant!
So, there are problems, but it is an educated decision I made to buy them despite their flaws and I'll get my money out of them.
